Artist’s Statement

I am a Contemporary Abstract and Landscape Painter. My work reflects elements of realism which I draw from my life’s experiences. I worked in the field of design and construction for many years, which offered me the opportunity to travel and experience life in foreign countries as well as many cities within the US.

Having lived in California, Florida and France, Landscapes, Seascapes and Nature are common themes in my Paintings. I have a strong emphasis on color that hopefully evoke emotion and create a powerful connection with my viewers.

My process involves exploration and discovery within multiple layers of Oil Paints and Cold Wax Medium. I add texture using Palette Knives to create depth and visual stimulation in each painting. Adding layers and then excavation back into previous layers to find hidden gems within a complex work of Art, I am often surprised as to what I might find as each piece evolves.

I want my work to be authentic and have a sense of presence. I’m drawn to organic shapes and varying edges that create interest and impact as the viewer explores the surfaces within my paintings. These are the threads that connect my work.
