Artist’s Statement

Having grown up in Chicago, I have enjoyed many phases of the arts. I grew up attending the ballet, playing the piano, and always making time for drawing and painting. I am an artist because I love to paint, and painting has become an integral part of my life. More than just portraying a scene, I have tried to develop a theme and body of work that explores composition, design, and color in natural settings. I primarily concentrate on painting with oils.

I work with photographs which I have taken during trips through Florida and other travels. I am drawn to images that capture a moment in a way not seen before. I am not content to simply reproduce a photo. I always have to make the image mine.

The main influence on my art is my love for nature and wildlife. I also enjoy colorful marketplaces that display fruits, vegetables, and flowers.
