"The Lake We Grew Up On" This painting depicts the lake I grew up on in Orlando, Florida, on a sandy beach with colors of the water, sky and scrubs surrounding our home. The colors are rich blues, pinks, creamy neutrals and ochres. 60"x36" acrylics on canvas
"Early Mountain Rain" This is an idea from my travels to Nepall where, at the highest points on the mountain trail, hung prayer flags blowing in the wind. It was raining this particular morning and I wanted to capture those impossibly beautiful colors in the mists and surrounding hills. The idea of the totem structure is from traveling to Easter Island and standing in front of the many moais as they lean from the ground up. 60"x36" acrylics on canvas
"Nude Caught in a Live Landscape" This is a painting that I wanted to paint using the nude in abstract form beside an abstract landscape, using colors of the summer which vibrate with oranges, burnt siennas and dark greens and vermillion reds. 72"x60" acrylics on canvas
"Moai Travelers" This is another painting from the TRAVELER series I have been doing over the last couple of years of people who have been displaced from their homes due to floods, war, famine, from many cultures around the world....I like using the human form with the least information to the viewer to contemplate how we are all in this together. 40"x40" acrylics on canvas
"Jezabelle" This is a painting of a early spring Blue Iris that I grow in my back garden. I wanted to capture that incredible cobalt blue color that has always mesmerized me even as a young girl. 48"x36" acrylics on canvas
"Magenta Flower" This is a painting of a flower from my brother Mike's garden in Tallahassee, Florida. I wanted to have it just be about ONE beautiful flower - I really loved working with this color on the canvas. 36"x36" acrylics on canvas
"Growing Up" This painting is an abstract play with line, mark making and color movement throughout the canvas. I really like painting this way as it gives me free rein on happenstance and play. When it was done, I thought of a name and looking carefully, it reminded me of my family - my older siblings on the left and my younger siblings on the right! 40"x40" acrylics on canvas
"Bay to Bay" This painting was done with three main colors in mind - also playing with mark-making and consciously working with the white of the canvas to keep it feeling loose and open. Big blocks of color create a pleasing statement. 60"x48" acrylics on canvas
"Big Yellow" This painting is very strong in color and can be hung horizontally or vertically.. It is all about the color and the way the paint is applied with layers and layers of whites, blues and yellows... 60"x48" acrylics on canvas
