Acrylics, wax pastels and texture medium on gallery wrapped canvas
While wandering in the front yard, I spotted an intriguing overhead view of a Crown of Thorns plant. The pink flowers are so charming, but this plant will bite back so beware! This original painting captures a novel perspective on a prickly botanical subject.
The canvas was first coated with a texture medium then lines were scraped into it. Subsequent layers of paint or wax pastel hide or reveal the texture, depending on how they’re applied.
