10” x 15" oil on canvas

In this painting, I abstracted and simplified the color and forms of the landscape's scope, drawing inspiration from Piet Mondrian's highly abstracted visual language. I use dark-value linear elements, which suggest branches, to provide a structural framework that anchors the composition and creates a sense of directed and spontaneous movement. Patterns of green, yellow, and red hues are scattered around a dense composition, giving a sense of a kaleidoscope. The abstraction of forms, the flatness of picture planes, and the luminosity of colors create a lively visual effect of stained glass.
